As part of researching an application for First Family membership in a county Genealogical Society, SE Ohio, I sued the Pension Application of a Rev War ancestor. An online subscription site has images of the court affidavits required of the veteran, including information re details of service, and places of residence following the war. Of value to my project, he stated the year his family moved to the county. I would highly recommend researching the pension applications (Act of 1832). The "catch" is whether or not the soldier was still living. (My ancestor was 77 years old, but required to recall quite a bit of detail about service.)
